The Visual Sensorics and Information Processing lab (VSI) at Goethe University, Frankfurt, has two openings for either PhD student or post-doc positions for theoretical and experimental work in the Bernstein Focus Neurotechnology (BFNT) Frankfurt.

The Neuroscience Group of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), and the VSI lab are the two main contributors to this large-scale research endeavour in the area of 'Vision in Man and Machine'.

 

Research in the 'Frankfurt Vision Initiative' is part of the Bernstein Network of Computational Neuroscience funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The open PhD and post-doc positions are fully funded research positions covering the fields of:

computational neuroscience, computer vision, machine learning and visual robotics.

Our Bernstein Focus on Neurotechnology combines basic research in these fields to develop an integrated and autonomously learning vision system.

 

We are looking for post-graduate students and post-docs who have graduated in computer science with a specialization in the subjects above or in related fields such as physics, mathematics, electrical engineering.
In general, candidates are required to have a strong analytical background and solid programming skills. Good communication skills in English (oral and written) are essential.
