We have an opening for a 2-year Research Fellow position on the topic of high-level scene understanding in the Research School of Computer Science at ANU. The project aims to develop probabilistic models that can be used to reason about the objects, geometry and activities in a scene.

Building on preliminary work in the field, the successful applicant will help develop new models for scene understanding and the associated machinery for automatically learning the parameters of these models from data. A key aspect of the project is to leverage the existence of large semi-supervised online datasets to enable the framework to make inferences about new objects and scene categories as more data becomes available.
Applicants should have recently graduated with a PhD degree in computer science or related discipline and have a strong background in computer vision and machine learning. If you have an outstanding academic record and excellent programming skills then apply within.

The ANU values a diverse workforce and as such women are especially encouraged to apply for this role.
