Disney Research, Pittsburgh has one 2-year post-doctoral position available immediately in our Computer Vision group. The ideal candidate will have recently completed a PhD thesis and be experienced in one or more of the following areas:

 

• Human pose estimation and/or tracking
• Object localization and/or tracking
• Machine learning
• Activity recognition
• Multi-modal inference (combining image, video, text, audio)

 

Excellent spoken and written English and strong mathematical skills are essential. Disney Research is primarily interested in publishing great research. Research-level programming competence is required in Matlab and C++.

 

Disney Research Labs provide a research foundation for the many business units within the Walt Disney Company. For example: Walt Disney Feature Animation, Walt Disney Imagineering, Parks & Resorts, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Disney Interactive Media Group, ESPN, Image Movers Digital and Pixar Animation Studios. Disney Research has sibling labs located in Pittsburgh, Zurich, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.

 

Disney Research, Pittsburgh is co-located with Carnegie Mellon University under director Prof. Jessica Hodgins. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to collaborate with members of the established Computer Vision group at The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon.  Collaborations across disciplines with members of Computer Graphics, Robotics and HCI groups are also encouraged.

 

Full participation in the global R&D community is required through publication of results, collaboration with universities, and participation in professional service activities. Candidates should have a strong publication record in the top conferences within their field (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NIPS, ICML, ICRA, ACM SIGGRAPH), excellent academic credentials, and an earned PhD in their area of specialization.
