Intelligent Automation, Inc. (IAI) is a Research and Development organization headquartered in Rockville, Maryland and conducts state of the art research and product development in the fast evolving areas of Distributed Intelligent Systems, Education, Robotics, Networks and Control. The Robotics and Electromechanical Systems Group is looking for an outstanding researcher with a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a background in computer vision and machine learning.  The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of vision and robotics scientists  and participate in rewarding research to develop core vision technology for robust video analysis, and to design solutions for specific vision applications.  Targeted applications include intelligent video surveillance, robotic vision, video forensics, semantic video tagging, and embedded vision devices.  

The desired candidate should have a strong publication record in computer vision particularly in the areas of visual tracking, object recognition, activity recognition and scene understanding.  Research experience in robotic vision, aerial video analysis, content-based image retrieval, vision software architecture, and embedded image processing is desirable but not required.  A strong background in programming and a proven ability to develop advanced system prototypes is important.  The desired candidate will have strong communication, presentation, and writing skills as well as experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 
 

US citizenship or US permanent residency is preferred.  IAI is an AA/EEO employer.
Job Duties :
1.Conduct research and development in the area of vision and scene understanding.
2.Develop vision algorithms and prototype systems for specific applications.
3.Design, integrate, and validate computer vision modules.
4.Interact with other research teams and support with computer vision and image processing expertise.
5.Support program management and business development efforts by writing reports/papers, contributing to proposals, presenting to customers, etc.
 
 Education 
 - Doctorate Degree EE, CS or related field
 
Experience 
- Proficient: C++, MATLAB
- 4+ years: Computer vision
- Solid understanding: computer vision and image processing algorithms
- Solid understanding: machine learning and statistical inference methods
- Some experience: visual tracking, object and activity recognition, vision software architecture
