Canon USA R&D is comprised of a staff of 70 researchers and engineers working on various topics including security, connectivity, cloud computing as well as office and medical solutions. Our San Jose office is specifically researching topics in the field of computational imaging.

We are looking for highly motivated and creative individuals for a summer internship. The successful candidate must be able to work self directed under the guidance from our experienced research staff. Ideally, the work will culminate in one or more high quality publications. There is the possibility to extend the summer internship to a part time internship for the rest of the year.

The work will include experimental research prototyping of novel imaging techniques, theoretical modeling and validating the theoretical models with experiments.

We are looking for candidates with some experience in setting up optical experiments, elementary lens design knowledge and Fourier optics or the modeling of optical systems (using e.g. Matlab, Zemax, Code V, or Oslo), or more generally for candidates with some background in computational photography, computer vision, image processing with excellent math skill in signal processing, inverse problems, linear optimization or related areas.
