Postdoc and Phd positions in the "Frankfurt Vision Initiative"

The Frankfurt Institute of Advanced Studies and the Goethe University, Frankfurt, has several openings for either PhD student or post-doc and/or sw engineer positions for systems research to develop a next generation bio-inspired cognitive vision system as part of the Bernstein Focus Neurotechnology (BFNT) Frankfurt. The 'Frankfurt Vision Initiative' is part of the Bernstein Network of Computational Neuroscience funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).  The project team is an interdisciplinary team made up of
neuroscientists, physicists, and computer scientists. 

For Postdoc positions preference will be given to candidates with depth in
computational neuroscience, computer vision, machine learning and/or vision based robotics. The candidates must also have sufficient breadth to work in an interdisciplinary team.  Experience in SW engineering of large systems will be considered a plus. We are looking for post-graduate students who have graduated in computer science, electrical engineering and/or related disciplines with strong foundations in applied mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or related disciplines.
In general, candidates are required to have a strong analytical background and solid programming skills. Good communication skills in English (oral and written) are essential.

The positions are limited to 2 years (post-doc) or up to 3 years (doctoral student), with an option for extension for a maximum of 4 years in total. The contract is based upon the regulations of Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz and Hessisches Hochschulgesetz.
