Research Internship in 3D Computer Vision
Internship Position in 3D Computer Vision
NEC Labs America is seeking highly motivated, qualified applicants for a three-month internship in the Media Analytics Group during Summer or Fall 2011. Our group pursues cutting-edge research in image-based search, recognition, 3D reconstruction and machine learning. Our Cupertino location in the heart of Silicon Valley offers friendly California weather and a host of outdoors and cultural activities.
The project relates to 3D reconstruction, in particular, developing key aspects of our in-house pipeline for ordered and unordered structure-from-motion (SFM). The internship will develop a robust, efficient SFM system that integrates feature matching, tracking, structure computation, pose estimation and bundle adjustment. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of innovation and successful completion of research projects.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with an NEC researcher on the specific project.
- Design, implement and evaluate algorithms to develop an SFM architecture.
- Collaborate in the documentation, publication and patenting of your project.
Requirements:
- Enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- Excellent C++ programming skills on Linux-based platforms are essential.
- Hands-on experience with developing components of an SFM system is desirable.
- Experience in vision-based robotics (SLAM, tracking) and camera systems is a plus.
