Join Qualcomm's Corporate Research & Development organization, based in San Diego, California. We are looking for talented individuals to contribute to the development of new generations of Mobile Augmented Reality solutions.

 

Mobile Augmented Reality:
Qualcomm’s AR vision-based augmented reality platform uses complex computer vision algorithms, tightly aligns computer graphics, and includes robust tracking and image detection. Qualcomm’s global R&D teams are helping to lead industry’s efforts for next-generation AR. Qualcomm’s involvement in AR not only includes research and development (R&D) but also commercialization efforts.

 

 

Tasks details:

 

Several AR applications such as tracking, scene change detection can be made more robust using information from sensors such as gyros and accelerometers present in phones. The goal of this project is to evaluate the benefit of having additional (to vision based) sensors such as gyros and accelerometers for AR applications. It is of interest to investigate the benefits of combining information from these modalities under a loose as well as tight integration framework.

 

Skills:

 

-         

Computer vision and image processing. Experience developing AR apps is a plus

-         

Experience in Inertial navigation systems and IMUs

-         

Knowledge of estimation theory and filtering techniques (EKF, particle filters)

-         

Experience in sensor-aided vision based navigation is a bonus

-         

Coding in Matlab and C/C++

 

Education:

 

In study towards a Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Must be available for at least 3 months in the spring or summer
