Opportunity:

CyberOptics, a leading provider of optical inspection systems and sensors for the electronic assembly equipment market, is seeking a senior image processing researcher and engineer to provide technical leadership in the area of image processing. This is a hands-on position and includes responsibility for the successful implementation of image processing solutions to meet the needs of new product development efforts. It is expected that the senior image processing research engineer is a key participant in the invention of new and innovative optical sensing applications. This position also has the responsibility to provide guidance and coaching to other image processing team members through an informal and formal design review process.

 Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and coaching for the image processing team members
  • Develop image processing requirements and specifications for new optical sensing applications in imaging, inspection, alignment and metrology
  • Develop and implement practical and technically innovative image processing solutions to meet customer driven requirements
  • Lead technical efforts in developing and testing enhancements to existing image processing algorithms
  • Develop and maintain image processing performance testing procedures
  • Interact with customer engineering to diagnose and solve customer related image processing issues for released products
  • Facilitate informal and formal image processing design reviews

Education Required:

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related areas
  • Formal education in digital signal and image processing

 Experience Required:

  • 5+ years track record of successfully developing and integrating image processing in optical sensing and machine vision applications
  • Proficient in C++ or C# programming
  • Experience in Windows .NET development environment
  • Experience applying commercial machine vision software tools (e.g. Cognex, Matrox, Halcon)  to industrial vision problems preferred
  • Experience working within multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Track record of leadership
  • Understanding of statistical modeling and classification techniques desired
  • Experience with real time image processing desired
  • Experience with pattern recognition and metrology is a plus
